Women in Motorsport Commission promotes Keep the Race in its Place at Donegal International Rally

Letterkenny, Co. Donegal — Youth from  Foroige Donegal  were invited VIP guests at the Women in Motorsport Commission’s event held at Letterkenny Garda Station on the eve of the Donegal International Rally. The initiative, organised in collaboration with An Garda Síochána and Foroige Donegal, aimed to promote safe and responsible motorsport with the message: “Keep the Race in its Place.”

Exclusive Look at Rally Safety

The young attendees enjoyed a special VIP viewing of the Toyota Yaris Rally2 car, gaining first hand insight into its advanced safety features — including the roll cage, safety harness, special seats, and fire suppression systems. Huge thanks to Melvyn Evans Motorsport and driver Meirion Evans for explaining how these features differ from regular road cars. Notably, Meirion went on to finish second overall at the rally.

Inspiring Future Motorsport Enthusiasts

Kelsey Kirby, Sports Development Officer (Also Racing Driver) , spoke to the youth about the many opportunities across all motorsport disciplines beyond driving, encouraging them to get involved in the sport.
